1750 TPH Wet Concentrator Plant – Bemax Ginkgo Plant

Overview

Mineral Technologies was awarded a contract to design, build and supply a 1750tph Wet Floating Concentrator Plant, complete with process equipment.

Details

Design and construction of plant, including commissioning, training and ongoing support. Mineral Technologies personnel were based at the project site during the construction phase, managing sub-contractors for construction and providing commissioning assistance.

Engineering Design

A design team of engineers and drafters worked over a period of 8 months on basic and detailed design.

New Technology

Mineral Technologies provided newly developed high capacity spiral technology to cut plant capex by 25%, aiding project viability.

Metallurgical Testwork & Flowsheet Design

Mineral Technologies undertook extensive testwork to analyse the deposit and determine its amenability to processing. The plant was fully modelled to allow online adjustment of operation for varying feed. Mineral Technologies processed bulk material from the Bemax site at Carrara to determine the best equipment and flowsheet for efficient processing of the deposit resulting in the use of innovative high capacity spirals being selected.

Equipment Supply

Mineral Technologies provided spiral separators, magnetic separators for the Wet Plant and HMC Treatment Plant and spirals to the Mineral Separation Plant.

Installation Supervision and Commissioning

Mineral Technologies provided the services of 4 personnel for 3-6 months on site to help with installation and commissioning and training of operators.

Highlights

  • Project completed on budget and 4 weeks over time on a 12-month design and construct
  • Successful plant construction on a greenfield site managing a local engineering company
  • Successful scale up from pilot plant testwork
  • Development of first Murray basin floating plant on groundwater with fine feed containing slimes
  • First large-scale use of high capacity spiral technology
