Iron Ore

Mineral Technologies has extensive experience in fine iron ore beneficiation worldwide.

Testimony to our iron ore expertise is Arcelor Mittal’s recent order of over 1000 spirals for 6 lines of wash water spiral assemblies at the Mont Wright Iron Ore Concentrator Plant in Canada. Arcelor Mittal’s order was preceded by extensive testing over a three year period and is the largest single spiral order in our 70 year history. As is the case with many of our projects, our teams worked in close collaboration with Arcelor Mittal to provide specific beneficiation requirements, resulting in new design features specific to Mont Wright’s needs.

We have conducted a wide range of beneficiation studies for hard rock iron ore and manganese ore separation, and provided pilot plant designs and plant specifications, supplying of pilot and production plants and technology packages. Several projects have involved retro-fit design and insertion of complete circuits into existing plants.

Our specifically designed WW6 wash and washwater spirals, and our HC33 spirals improve grade of iron ore fines by 3-4%.

We also excel in incorporating the know-how to pump high density iron ore fines to avoid “hang ups” and leaching.
